CALAMONDIN BUSH 6" Grower's Pot
CALAMONDIN BUSH 6" Grower's Pot
The Mini Calamondin Bush (Citrus × microcarpa) is a delightful citrus plant known for its compact size, glossy green foliage, fragrant blossoms, and small, vibrant orange fruits. A hybrid between a kumquat and a mandarin orange, this charming plant produces fruits that are tart and tangy, perfect for culinary uses or as decorative accents. Its ornamental beauty and fresh citrus scent make it a popular choice for indoor spaces or sunny patios. The Mini Calamondin Bush is both a functional and decorative plant, ideal for citrus enthusiasts and gardeners alike.
Care Instructions
- Light: Prefers bright, direct sunlight for at least 6–8 hours a day. Place near a sunny window or supplement with a grow light if indoors.
- Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, ensuring the pot has proper drainage.
- Humidity: Enjoys moderate humidity. If indoor air is dry, mist the leaves occasionally or use a humidifier to maintain a healthy environment.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 65–85°F (18–29°C). Avoid exposing it to temperatures below 50°F (10°C) or sudden drafts.
- Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix designed for citrus plants or amend standard soil with sand and compost for better drainage.
- Fertilizer: Feed with a citrus-specific fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in the fall and winter.
- Pruning: Prune lightly to maintain its compact shape and remove any dead or damaged branches. Regular pruning encourages healthy growth and fruit production.
- Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years in a pot slightly larger than the current one, using fresh, nutrient-rich soil.
- Fruit Care: While the fruits are edible, they are quite tart. Harvest when fully orange for the best flavor.
The Mini Calamondin Bush is a versatile plant that offers both aesthetic charm and the joy of homegrown citrus. With proper care, it will thrive and brighten your space with its cheerful fruits, fragrant flowers, and lush greenery.
